Fleas do not benefit humans- other than the humans that sell flea powder, flea spray, flea collars, etc etc. They are a pest and spread disease.

How are dog fleas different than the fleas that live on humans?

Human fleas (pulex irritans) prefer to feed on humans and pigs, but are much more commonly associated with living on wildlife. Dog fleas (ctenocephalides canis) are much more suited to living in fur.
