The many types of bacteria that cause food to become stale and rot have a difficult time trying to survive and do what they do when in a cold environment.
In 1800's people used fridges to preserve there food. They used snow to do this as electric was not invented, they brought snow from local places or from mountains... :) hope i helped!
Fridges and banks.
Food spoilage is caused by bacteria multiplying. Bacteria thrive in room temperature, so refrigerators keep food at a temperature that bacteria do not like, which slows their ability to reproduce.
Fridges are typically set to a temperature of around 37 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal food preservation.
Chill, cool ,separate, wash.
water can not preserve food it attracts mold
they put them in a jar in a cool, underground celler
On meat, salt can preserve food.
They stuffed the food with salt which would let it dry out and that's how they would preserve it.
well once you have cooked the food it is ready to it so there is no need to preserve it
Eskimos use fridges for the same reason others use them - to keep food cold. They heat the inside of their homes as we do and a fridge keeps the food cold. Fridges do NOT stop food freezing. they remove heat from the items within them and radiate that heat outside the fridge using the radiator at the back. they only remove heat, to stop something freezing you would have to introduce heat.
Water doesn't necessarily preserve food. However, the canning process can preserve food. The boiling process can prevent any transfer of bacteria, fungus or microbes.
