I'm assuming you mean a backrub type massage?

Start by sitting directly behind her. Move her hair out of the way, or ask her if she has a hair tie to put it up. Try to have warm hands. If she seems hesitant or nervous tell her to relax her shoulders and take a deep breath.

Start by placing your hands on the very upper part of her back or on top of her shoulders and let them rest there as you relax and let your weight and the weight of your hands sink in. Then with light pressure, press into the tops of her shoulders with the palm of your hand, allowing your fingers to be loose and relaxed. Repeat a few times using gradually harder pressure, ask her to tell you when you reach a good pressure.

Now begin using your fingers also, squeeze the tissue, again starting out gently and then asking her if the pressure is okay. Think of it like kneading, squeezing and lifting the tissue. Gently use the same squeezing method on her neck, if she is sitting up, you could also ask her to tilt her head back and let you support some of the weight while you squeeze the back of the neck.

Now, using one hand to support the body by holding around the shoulder and stabilizing her, begin pressing your palm back into the shoulders, down between the shoulder blades, and down either side of the spine (don't push directly on the vertebra).

Try giving a few backrubs and doing whatever else feels natural or whatever variations of these moves you can think of.

NOTE:

A girl will like a massage better if you start out with softer pressure and then build it up so she can tell you how much pressure she wants. (That way she doesn't have to deal with an uncomfortable moment of asking you or end up disliking your massage because you didn't ask her).

Don't skip over the bra if she is wearing one under her shirt. Just go over it but beware of small metal hooks on some Bras- if you feel any small lump when over the bra, use light pressure to avoid poking.

Check in with her a few times to ask if she wants more or less pressure, any sore areas, etc.

Try starting a conversation about her, if she doesn't continue the conversation, simply keep massaging and focus on what you're doing while being quiet.

Remember to stay relaxed yourself or you'll pass on your anxious feelings.

A good backrub lasts at least 10 minutes.
