Glaciers do not cause global warming, in fact, their white and shiny surface (albedo) reflects a lot of the sun's radiation; this prevents some of the warming.

When glaciers melt, they reveal dark rocks and soil underneath, which absorb much more of the sun's heat. This is called a positive feedback of global warming.
