Glasses don't make you see: they enable you to see better.
With defective eyes images of objects are focused at points which are in front of or behind the retina. This means that the image is not sharp. Lenses in glasses change the overall focal length of the eye+lens system so that the image is now focused on the retina and so provides a sharp image.
