Its not hard to work out.
An echo is the easiest way.
Stand one mile from a cliff and set off a firecracker or fire a shot.
Time how long it takes for the echo to return.
Do the necessary arithmetic and you come up with about 700 miles per hour.
To know how fast your going
The Mach number for speed is a function of how fast an object is going relative to the speed of sound in that medium (which can vary). The speed of sound at sea level is around 768 mph, so Mach 3.3 at around this level will be 768 x 3.3 = 2534 mph
It is important to know how fast a vehicle is going for many reasons. Since speed effects handing and braking times, you can't make proper driving decisions if you do not know how fast you are going. Speed sensors measure how fast a vehicle is going.
Well, we know that in any material medium, the speed of sound increases along with the density of the medium. The more dense the medium, the higher the speed of sound, and the less dense the medium, the lower the speed of sound. All of this points in the direction that as the density of the medium tends toward zero, the speed of sound in it also tends toward zero. So I guess in space, where the density of material stuff is next to zero, we would expect that the speed of sound would also be next to zero. But consider this: We know that you can't hear sound in space. Since you have already made up a pretend condition for your question, saying that you can hear sound in space, why don't you go ahead and make up a speed too; whatever pleases you.
you have a car match your speed, then you look at your speed guage :P
They measure engine speed in RPM, but car speed in MPH. If you want to know how they know how fast the cars go from the stands or the officials' booths, that is what radar guns are for. Inside the cars, the speedometer tells how fast they are going, and the tachometer tells how fast the engine is running.
I believe you mean "why does it matter how fast sound can travel?" There are many reasons for why it matters to know how fast sound travels. it can help with determining the distance of a lightning storm, tuning instruments, and is helpful with ballistics. -Tychusfindlay919
There is no specific formula or function for sound in Excel. As there are mathematical formulas for sound, like ones for speed of sound in water or in air, you can use Excel to do the calculations if you know what those formulas are. There is no specific formula or function for sound in Excel. dont know but they are relly fast
the maximum speed of colossus is 45 mph. i know this doesn't sound very fast bur it is quite fast, and bear in mind it is quite old as well. if you want to ride something with speed, try out stealth or saw. hope this helped :D
To know if a predator is coming
When you know both the speed and direction of an object's motion, you know its velocity. Velocity describes both how fast an object is moving (speed) and in what direction it is moving.
