∙ 15y agoCarbon as the pure element is not found in the human body. Carbon as part of molecules is found in almost every molecule in the body. Proteins contain atoms of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen (and sulfur too). Carbohydrates contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Fats contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. The chemistry of living things is often known as the chemistry of carbon or organic chemistry. Another modern term referring to the chemistry of life is biochemistry. Every cell in the body has many, many millions of atoms of carbon forming part of the thousands and thousands of different molecules in it.
