How do i change a starter on a 1990 Volvo 240 I can't get the 18mm socket in the tight space I bought a universal and it still doesnt fit Any advice?

i just changed the starter yesterday, youl need a 90 degree pivit adapter plus a3/4 inch shallow socket plus 10-14 inches of extension and possibly abreaker bar on ratchet handle. good luck spray w-d40 first Ike

first disconect batteries now get under vehicle disconect wires from starter motor there are three mounting bolts that hold starter in place two are easy to get at the third is on top side of starter and you will need a socket extension bar and a socket universal extension to reacg this bolt after removing three blots starter will come off bell housing instalation is exact opposite
