DNA testing as well as various forensic examinations (hair, skull shape, etc.) can, when combined, give you a pretty good picture of your ethnicity. It's not inexpensive, but it can be done. Also, the Church of Later Day Saints (LDS or Mormons) has focused strongly on discovering geneology for religious purposes. They're usually very helpful and expert with this sort of question.
