Well typically mowing the paster will discourage ticks because they preffer to hang onto long stalks of grass. Some people also do a controlled burn on their pastures but you must alway becareful when doing that and follow the city/county regulations on burning.

Takes a little prep work and training, but Guinea Fowl are tick eating machines. Just a couple per acre will have you pest free in no time.

How are horses good for the environment?

They are graziers, or herbivores, able to eat plants and feed the plants with their droppings. Wild horses have a much bigger area to range as far as grazing areas are concerned, but with domesticated horses in a smaller pasture, they can be hard on your pastures because they tend to graze so close to the ground, often causing overgrazing. Horses tend to be worse overgrazers than cattle because they are able to nip grasses right down to the ground whereas cattle can only nip off the top 2 inches. Proper pasture management is thus crucial when grazing horses, no matter how large your pasture might be: make sure they only graze 3 to 4 inches from the ground, if you are rotational-grazing them. And, keep them off the pasture when there is no growth left or when grasses are trying to recover, giving them hay in a different paddock (preferably a drylot or corral) for them to eat instead. It is also good to either scoop up their feces in the pasture, or use a harrow-rake behind an ATV or small tractor to spread their droppings around more evenly in the pasture, allowing the grasses fuller access to nutrients so they can grow more vigorously.

Can more than 1 horse be in a stall?

No . Since horses have a pecking order, disputes will arise from time to time. Therefore, it is not wise to put them together in such a small space ,such as a stall or very small pen. If one of them becomes aggressive, the other has no space to flee his assailant. Also, horses will deliberately box another up in a corner, even in a large pasture if it really has a dispute to settle.

If your horse was lacking minerals what can you do?

If your horses is lacking minerals, the most common remedy for this is to provide your horses with a salt lick and a mineral lick. You can place small ones in their stalls or place larger ones in the pasture. Horses who lack minerals will instinctively be guided to lick from the blocks. If you want to be positive that your horses is getting it's minerals though, you can buy mineral supplements that can be placed on top of its grain. When your horse eats the grain, then it is also consuming the minerals.
