Most vehicles allow you to change the "pipe" that the filter screws onto. I am looking at having mine replaced after a kid screwed up my oil change at the station. Fairly easy repair, the part for my 98 stratus was about $90.

Why would you want to know the size of the thread on the oil filter? All spin on filters have rolled threads and as long as you buy a filter that is made for your car it will fit. You don't need a wrench to fit the threads just spin the filter on and off.
When you replace your oil filter it come with a new gasket. Just make sure when you remove / replace the old oil filter the oil gasket comes out with it.

1. Raise the car on ramps or jackstands. 2. Remove the oil drain plug. 3. Remove the oil filter, located underneath the intake manifold. If you can't reach it from the top of the engine, you can remove the passenger side wheel (on a left-hand drive car), to reach it from underneath the fender. 4. Replace the drain plug. 5. Apply oil on the threads of the oil filter, and on the rubber O-ring of the filter. 6. Replace the oil filter on the engine. 7. Open the Oil cap on top of the engine. 8. Add 4 quarts of 10W-30 or 5W-30 oil. 9. Replace the oil cap. 10. Recycle oil
The filter may be lose if this is not the case the threads around the filter may be "stripped". Try changing the filter if this does not work I would take your vehichle to a certified mechanic.
