on a auto trans it should be built into neutral safety switch or gear indicator switch there called now its mounted on the shifter input shaft on transmission where the shift cable is attached, on a manual trans it looks like a oil pressure switch screwed into trans body you can get a temp pass on alldata.com to find circuit diagram and location and test procedure for ten bucks
