Lions hunt in packs and they are ambush hunters. They spread out in the grasslands merging with the canopy away from the sights of their prey. When they are close enough usually 100 yards or so, they jump and chase down their prey. If the prey starts running, usually they would have backup in the other directions so that the other lions can tackle the prey and bring it down.
