They use them to keep other male stag flies away.
I Think they fight with them (:, Well the male ones anyway x
Well, yes. Female reindeer keep their antlers. Although, in spite of the fact I am a true fan of science(I am an aithiest. I only celebrate Christmas for fun), I disagree with the fact they are all female. It is most likely, but come on- the guy's magic! Of course, they would need a male to repreduce, so they have to have at least 1 male, or they would die out. female reindeers do no have antlers and they are a doe.male reindeers have antlers
Only male deer grow antlers. Females don't. Actually, antlers fall off in Fall and have to grow back in Spring! Males use their antlers to fight for the right to mate with females. They lower their heads, and charge, their antlers locking together. They keep on fighting until one gives up and the winner gets the female.
Bucks use antlers as a means to show other bucks they are stronger and bigger than them, and use them to attract does to mate. Deer are not the only species to have antlers; moose, elk, reindeer and caribou also have antlers that are grown and used in the same way. Pronghorns, though not a part of the deer species, also regrow their "antlers" (actually called horns) every year.to show that they are a male and to defend them self.
The deer had very large antlers.
The deer rubbed his antlers on a tree.
Bull Moose use their antlers for fighting over cows in the mating season.
Deer shed their antlers annually for the regeneration, or re-growth, of new ones. The entire shedding process takes two to three weeks to complete, and the re-growth phase takes place over the summer. The docile male deer that, with the exception of the male and the female reindeer, solely sports antlers, sheds them between January and April, after the autumn mating season draws to a close. He can do without antlers at this time, because his need for them in prior months, to attract and to impress females for his harem of mates, and to fight with his competitors for the females affections, no longer exists.
No, what they mean is a deer with big antlers, pretty much, but they're not referring to any type of beetles. I suggest that if you want to know the complete and whole meaning, look it up in the dictionary, or use dictionary.com.
Male deer have antlers to fight other males for mates etc.. Female reindeer, (acturally caribou), also have antlers. Like other deer, antlers are shed in early winter, with the exception of pregnant caribou cows. Since caribou dig down in the snow (called cratering) to get at lichen, pregnant caribou cows can use their antlers to defend against other caribou who may try to kick them out of their crater, which ultimately helps pregnant cows conserve energy.

They attack their predators or at least scare them off with the antlers. Males are the only ones with antlers to protect their group. Males also use antlers to compete for leader of the group.
