One can change the thermostat on a Chevy car by draining the coolant and disconnecting the upper radiator hose. The thermostat housing is then unbolted, the old thermostat removed, and a new unit placed in the housing.
No. One of the two bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the engine is a challenge.
Yes, it has one.
Open up the thermostat housing, clean off the old gasket, pull out the old one, put the new one in, put the new gasket in, tighten everything back up.
go to any parts store and get a chilton. its a book/manual. if you ask for one they will know what you are talking about
slim near the thermostat housing with two wires on it
To change the thermostat, you first need to get a new one. Then you can take it out and replace with the new one.
This is not an easy one to do. If you have nibble fingers, patients and the right tools you can do it. Removing the air filter box off the throttle body and out of the engine compartment will give you a little needed elbow room. Drain down the radiator and remove upper radiator hose from thermostat housing. Remove the two bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the engine. One of the two bolts will be a challenge to get to but it can be done. With bolts removed you can wiggle out the thermostat housing to expose the thermostat. Install in reverse order.
follow the top radiator hose to the engine. its under the cover where the hose attatches
the therosts is always at the end of one of the two hoses between radiater and engine the only car I have seen that it is on the bottom hose and not the top is a lexus-in any case undo the hose on the top of the engine and there sits your thermostat
On the drivers side below the alternator at the end of the coolant hose thermostat and housing are one piece.
Passenger side front of the car follow the radiator hose to the engine that's the water neck and thermostat. It's all one unit on the 3.5
If you suspect the thermostat is no good, replace it with a new one, don't leave it out.
