by using their feathers. as u can see if a peacock lays out or shows his/her feathers it looks like their is thousands of eyes. so by using their feather they defend themselves from their prey. if that doesn't work then i think they run!!

Of course. They not only protect themselves with great success, they are EXTREMELY protective over their children. If you've never tried to get near a peahen with its babies, don't bother, unless you want your eyes to get poked out. They must do this to keep themselves from predators like raccoons, cats, and foxes. The peachicks are especially vulnerable, and this is why peacocks and peahens are extremely protective.
