the people residing in the desert suffer alot from the landscape. The high temperatures of the desert result in high rate of evaporation and the already scarce water is not available. thus the land remains dry and the little water seeps into the ground.

the irregular rainfall results in long periods of draught.

Lack of water and a stable food source means people would have to become nomads ( no specific home, they just wander around following food or water sources). Since they don't settle down and it is a constant struggle for food, culture is limited. Culture goes as far a music and dance in some areas of the world (Africa).

Why do Aborigines live in the desert?

Aboriginal people inhabited the continent of Australia first. Various tribes lived in different parts of the continent, thriving wherever they lived by adapting their bush skills to the climate and landscape. When European settlers came, they occupied the areas where the land most suited them, usually along the coasts where rainfall was sufficient and soil was fertile. Europeans drove the indigenous people off the fertile coastal areas and deeper into the outback and the desert, until eventually that was the only place where they could continue their own lifestyle.
