Propane mosquito traps use gases Octenol and CO2 to attract the insects. After they are drawn closer, the propane traps suck them dry. They have in-built fans which pull the mosquitoes inside. Once they are inside, they can't escape. After they get dehydrated, either they get too weak to fly or just die there. Because of this effective method of killing, the propane mosquito traps are considered the most efficient mosquito killers.

Are mosquitoes territorial?

Apparently they are or else the mosquito magnet machines wouldn't be effective. They attract mosquitoes with a pheramone and co2 (from a propane tank) and trap and kill them. The manufacturer says it takes a month or so for the machine to be effective since they have to kill all the mosquitoes in that territory. If mosquitoes migrates at will the concept would not work.. These machines deplete an area of mosquitoes by killing all the locals. Thus they have a limited range in sq yards. I have read that a mosquito never migrates more than a 1000 feet or so from where it is born. I find it hard to believe since mosquitoes are so light and any wind would usher them into new territory. Anyway for better or worse these are the facts I have heard and wondered about.

How do you use soap on your lawn to kill mosquitos?

*** Soap bubbles kill mosquitoes immediately. *** What's happens is that as soon as a mosquito comes in contact with a soap bubble, due to surface tension of soap his whole body is absorbed in bubble. The wings, legs get stuck to the body and the mosquito is unable to fly. The mosquito which is soaked in bubble falls down on ground. Also soap liquid kills mosquito larvae in unused water lying nearby. We should heavily spray areas infested with mosquitoes with tiny soap bubbles of the size of mosquito during the time when they are about to fly and attack human habitats, mostly evenings. Also killings mosquitoes in their habitats is the best strategy than trying to kill them in our homes. Remove the roots like larvae with soap water. This is the cheapest and pollution free way to control mosquitoes and malaria.
