Historically, Italy is very much a traditional Roman Catholic country. It is after all the home of the Vatican City. I am sure they have other religions there as well. The Catholic Faith is practised in other places in the world including the USA. The USA is a comparitively younger country and has freedom of religion which allows for a great diversity of beliefs.
There are no such restrictions in Mexico, which is a country where a majority of its population practices Roman Catholicism. Other countries with such religion are Portugal, Spain, France or Italy, and neither of them has any import/export restrictions due to religious beliefs.
