The parent (usually the father) gives the food to the chick. The male penguin also finds food for the chick. The father does not eat till the chick has had enough food to eat.

Penguins catch fish in the water and eat them sometimes they bring the food up for the babies and stick it in their mouths on land. They also eat it on the ice to prevent it from escaping.
