Birth can come from 2 sources: either asexual or sexual. Those that come from the first way are by arms of another individual, since this group has a high capacity of regeneration. In the second route, fertilization is external, so that the eggs and sperm are expelled to the environment where fertilization occurs.

Once the fertilization has taken place, a larva emerges. The curious thing about larvae of the echinoderms is that their larvae are very variable and the most interesting is their development. In the larva is differentiated a series of organs and a small nervous system. However, throughout its maturation is seen another area where it is differentiating another small nerve center. And in fact it is this second that develops in adult. This has been termed the "alien" theory, because due to the strangeness of this development, it has been suggested that it is a species of space whose larvae invaded larvae parasitizing them in a manner analogous to how viruses do, to develop. This could also explain how strange this group is.

Then comes the adult who is a predator or scavenger. Acquires sexual maturity and reproduces. Then like every living being, he dies
