Normally, it's pretty hard for everybody to see in the dark, but if you just stay in the dark for a while, it will around 20-30 mins for your eyes to adjust to the darkness. Some people could be used to the dark or they practiced a bit to see in the dark. And I'm not sure if genes could affect your eyesight.
