Startch have two types of polymer chain, one is amylose and another is amylopectin.Amylose is simple straight chain of glucose(1--->4 linkage),while amylopectin have branching. At branching point, there is 1--->6 linage and 1--->4 linkage in every subchain.

So,in startch 1-6 linkage comes after 20 to 25 gucose monomer, while in gycogen this linkage comes very frequently.....

Is the difference between glycogen and starch?

Glycogen is the storage form of glucose in animals, while starch is the storage form of glucose in plants. Both glycogen and starch are polysaccharides made up of glucose units, but they differ in the branching pattern of their glucose chains and the enzymes involved in their synthesis and breakdown.

What is another molecule in humans that is similar to starch?

Glycogen is another molecule in humans that is similar to starch. Both starch and glycogen are polysaccharides made up of glucose monomers, but glycogen is the storage form of glucose in animals, including humans.

Glycogen is most similar to?

Starch in plants. Both glycogen in animals and starch in plants are polysaccharides that serve as storage forms of glucose. They are both branched polymers of glucose that can be broken down into glucose units when needed for energy.

Give another name for glycogen and anothere name for starch?

Glycogen is the analogue of starch, a less branched glucose polymer in plants and is commonly referred to as ANIMAl STARCH, having a similar structure to amylopictin. Starch is naturally abundant carbohydrate are also known as PLANT STARCH or GLUCOSAN.

Is your body capable of converting starch into glycogen?

Glycogen. Starch is exclusive to plant storage of carbohydrates.

What is the another term for an animal starch?

Glycogen is the proper name for animal starch. It is stored int the livers and muscles of animals. It can also be found in certain kinds of fungi and bacteria.

What type of polysaccharide is found in potatoes?

Starch is found potatoes, not Glycogen. Glycogen is the plant equivalent of animal glycogen. A potato has starch but no glycogen; muscle cells have glycogen but no starch. The starch we eat is broken into glucose in the stomach/small intest and then reassembled in the muscle cells as glycogen.

How you will define glycogen?

Glycogen is the body's storage of energy. It is a starch.

What is the storage of the starch?

glycogen

Where is glycogen (animal starch) stored?

In humans, glycogen is stored in the liver and muscles. It is sometimes called animal starch.

Would blood serum contain starch or glycogen?
