Should be located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
the thermostat is located towards the bottom of the engine you can recognize it by a cable that connects to the front of the middle of the engine and in order to replace it you pretty much have to take the front of the car off
My Dad and I did this the other day. You have to take the alternator off to get to it. Once you get that out of the way you will see the thermostat, which has two bolts that come off- careful because your coolant will be pouring out. Replacing the thermostat is the easy part- just make sure you have the o-ring that goes with it.
follow the radiator hose that goes to the motor, the thermostat housing is the thing the hose is hooked to and it is bolted to the motor with three bolt i believe. you take the hose off, the housing off and just take the old thermostat out and put the new one in.
you have to take off the throttle body and the air intake box to get at it its under there
Take off the thermostat housing which is located right where the top radiator hose clamps to the motor. thermostat will come right out. be sure to install the new one in the same way you take the old one out.
You have to take off the front end of the engine, as if you were replacing the timing belt and water pump, huge effort for a thermostat.
Follow the upper raditor hose from the raditor to the motor, the raditor hose is connected to the thermostat housing, take the houseing off, the thermostat is under the housing.
From what my mechanic tells me, it is under the manifold. No, form my eperience (replacing that sucker) the thermostat on the 1996 Nissan quest is on the left side of the engine, where your drive belts are located. in order to access it first you have to take off your serpentine belts. then you have to take off the upper and lower timing belt covers. the thermostat housing is directly above and slightly behind the water pump.
How to take off themastate unit ..
The Thermostat is sitting inside the hole where u remove the water pump oddly enough -- it looks like u have to rip half the engine off to remove and replace the sucker - im here looking on how to remove and replace it without tearing the entire engine apart
The thermostat is in the rear left tire, you need to take the trunk off and then take the tire off and take it to a shop and have them remove it.
Take the filler neck off and the thermostat will be right there
