According to The Bible, at (Romans 13:1-7) & (Titus 3:1-3)Christians are commanded to obey the governments and superior authorities in all things , because God has allowed them to be in their ruling position to keep a semblance of order in the world....
However, scripturally, this is a 'relative' authority, because when the law of the government of any given country, disagrees with God's law, the law of God should be followed, no matter what the repercussions.(Acts 4:19&20) (Acts 5:27-42)(Acts 8:40-9:2)(Acts 22:4)(Acts 26:11)
For example, Christians were commanded by Jesus, to preach about God's coming Kingdom to the whole world (Matthew 28:19&20)(Matthew 24:14). If a 'government decision' attempts to stop this work publicly, the preaching will continue underground. (2 Timothy 4:2)(Matthew 10:16)(2 Corinthians 4:5-12)
So, the above scriptural citations lead many to believe that Governmental decisions should be honored by Christians until these decisions conflict with God's laws, at which time, a Christian will obey GOD'S laws instead, though ALWAYS with deep respect (1 Peter 3:15)
The reason governmental decisions are important for all of us is because those decisions impact all of us. For example, governments create laws that citizens have to follow.
