The Inuit fed themselves by hunting other animals or fishing. The climate was too cold, the shallow layers of soil would be frozen solid so the plants wouldn't survive. For fishing they would cut a circle into the ice until they reached the ocean. Then they would stick the fishing pole inside and then wait. For hunting they would hunt polar bears, birds, and even whales. Then they would use the bones for tools such as hunting spears or fishing poles. Since the land was so cold and dry the Inuits didn't waste anything from the animals body.
