Of CO2, CS2 and CSe2, CO2 is the smallest molecule whereas CSe2 is the largest molecule. The same pattern exists in the strength of the intermolecular forces. All three are linear, non polar molecules.

How do intermolecular forces compare to covalent and ionic bonds in terms of strength?

Ionic bonds create stronger intermolecular attraction than covalent bonds do; that is why rocks are harder than plastic.

Why do the melting and boiling points of a particular subsatnce vary?

It is because the intermolecular forces(the attractive forces between the molecules of a substance) differ from one substance to another. The chemical with the stronger intermolecular forces will have higher melting and boiling points, and vice versa. This is because more energy is required to separate the molecules to melt or boil the substance, if the forces are strong. The factors that determine the size of these forces are :the type of bonding in the molcules, andthe mass of the molecules.

Are all intermolecular forces similar?

They vary depending on the molecules under consideration. They are all electrostatic in nature deriving from the interaction of permanent or instantaneous dipoles. They are lumped together as Van der Waals forces but can be considered to be of 3 types:-Keesom forces permanent dipole dipole interactionsDebye forces; permanent dipole interaction with induced dipole,London dispersion forces ; interaction between two instantaneous dipoles.

What are your strengths and weaknesses in research?

Strengths and weaknesses vary from person to person. For research, one must know how and what resources to use and how to interpret them.

Which type of substance is most likely to experience an attraction between its particles?

All substances experience attraction between their particles. These vary in type and strength. If there were no forces they would never form liquids or solids. You could say that the strongest bonds are in the substances with the highest melting points.

Can medication strength vary?

Yes. Do the effects vary? Depending on the medication and the form of it. There may be a extended release that is different. Are there different strengths, yes. Such as amlodapine-it comes in 2.5mg, 5mg, and 10 mg

Do drug strengths vary with lot numbers?

They shouldn't vary except as marked with another dosage. This can happen if you buy things off the internet, and don't know the country of origin , or get outright counterfeits.

What are major strengths and weakness of a professor?

Major strengths and weakness of a professor vary from each person. Often professors have taught in a field but haven't had hands on experience that can be related to the students. This is a weakness. A strength is that the professors are very knowledgeable.

What are the forces that break rocks?

The forces that break rocks vary and in most cases are classified as mechanical or chemical forces. Weathering is one of the common ways that rocks are broken down into smaller particles.
