Triggerfish are mostly scavengers or will eat algae, coral and invertebrates. They don't often eat other fish but they will take fishing bait as they are scavengers after all. Triggerfishes when they do find crabs, shrimps, shellfish will nip at them, using their beak like mouth to crush the shells and dismember the body.
