Best Answer

Spend a lot of time talking with the child to try and get them to stop lying, there is probably a reason for the lying like lack of attention or other. But don't trust them unless you know they are telling the truth. and that is for their own good.

What should you do when your son won't stop taking drugs and lying to the family?

Family councelling, parenting classes, etc...There is always a reason that the child is resorting to drugs, and if he is lying then there are serious trust issues as well. Trust is the FIRST thing that has to be dealt with, because you cant help him if he doesn't trust you. Once trust has been reestablished, then the reason for abuse should be dealt with, rather than the abuse itself, which should be the last issue confronted. A third party is very important, as this is a situattion where both parties are very emotionaly involved, however, the child must never feel attacked, as that will cause a defensive reaction, more abuse, and more lies. You MUST earn your child's trust, or find someone your child already trusts to help.
