The quick fire system is designed to allow the angler to cast a spinning reel with a single hand. On a regular spinning reel setup, the bail is normally opened with one hand while the other hand holds the rod and reel. The line is then secured with the index finger against the bottom of the rod until the cast is underway. The bail then closes when the reel in engaged for the retrieve.
