Ideally a vampire would not kill his food source but use it lightly for he/she would be assured of a continuing food source.

If however a vampire wishes to create a new vampire then he would 'kill' his victim slowly assuring that the vampire contagin was in effect when the person died.

Do vampire bats have venom?

No, vampire bats do not have venom. They have special adaptations in their saliva that prevent blood from clotting while they feed, allowing them to obtain a blood meal from their prey without causing excessive bleeding.

Why do vampire bats rarley attack humans?

Vampire bats life cycl?

Common vampire bats are social animals. They roost alone, in small groups, or in colonies of up to 2,000 bats. When colonies are larger than about 50 bats, they split up into smaller groups consisting of females and their young. A single male often roosts close to each female group and attempts to maintain his right to breed with the females of the group. Clashes between males frequently occur; they are hard-fought battles that involve biting, kicking and battering with wings. Social Bonds are enhanced by grooming, this normally occurs between females and young, and female to female. A female grooms another female for several minutes, after which the recipient regurgitates part of their blood meal for the other to consume. This practice proves important since one in three bats are unsuccessful in finding a blood meal each night. A vampire bat dies if it does not get a blood meal in two to three days. One strategy for survival is to groom or beg from another bat, in order to receive a much needed blood meal.

When a zombie gets bitten by a vampire - what will it turn into?

A vampire would never bite a zombie, they are the walking dead, and a vampire feeds off of the blood of the living. Walking dead means no blood flowing, means no meal for a vampire, means pointless to try and feed off of. That would be like me becoming a vegetarian, there's no nutrition in that.

Do bats care of their own?

Bats do care for their young; they are mammals, and nurse their young with milk. They generally have one tiny pup at a time, and leave it at the roost as they go hunting. When the mother returns, she can find her own young back among thousands of others by following its unique calls. Vampire bats even take care of unrelated members of the roost that are too weak to hunt. If a vampire misses a meal, they're soon too weak to go on, so individuals that did obtain blood often share it with others. These remember being treated well and often return the gesture, forming 'friendships'. ^^

Why does Both vampires and vampires bats feed on blood?

# The bat feeds on blood because it is a nutritious meal, So do mosquitoes and ticks. No big mystery. # The vampire feeds on blood because it is his/her source of nutrition and life energy. Some vampires don't feed on blood but get their life energy by other means: consider the many forms of psi-vampires, the succubus and the incubus.

How do vampire blood bats get blood?

they bite through the skin with their sharp teeth en then drink a few ml of the blood from the animal or human. By far the most famous bat in the world is the vampire bat. This species has a close association with vampires and mythological stories. The real Vampire Bats are found in Mexico and do feed on the blood of warm blooded animals, such as cattle, horses, or birds. The vampire bat does not actually like the taste of human blood and much prefer other warm blooded animals instead. The vampire bat is one of the only species of bat that feeds on blood. They do not, however, suck this blood. Instead, the bat makes a small cut in the skin of a sleeping animal with their sharp teeth. The bat's saliva has an aesthetic in it that reduces the likelihood of the animal feeling the insertion. They then lap the blood up as it flows from the fresh wound. There is a special anticoagulant contained in the bats saliva that prevents their victim's blood from clotting until the bat has finished its meal. The bat only needs about two teaspoons of blood a day, so the blood loss is minimal and rarely causes any harm to their victim.

How do vampire bats attack their prey?

Vampire bats do indeed drink blood. While in flight, they locate their prey - usually pigs, cows, horses (and, on very rare occassion, humans) - using echolocation, and using their extremely sharp teeth create a scrape on the skin of the target. A special chemical compound in their saliva, called an anticoagulant, keep the blood from clotting so the bat can drink until it is full. Satisfied, it then returns to its home. Why does vampires and vampire bats feed on blood?

The Vampire Bat feeds on blood because its a nutritious meal. No great mystery there. The mosquito, the tick and the leech find blood a nice snack too.A particular subset of vampires feed on blood to get at 'the life force' they need to perpetuate their existence. As the bible says 'In the blood is the life.'+++I've no idea what the second answer means but there is one big difference between the bat and the mosquito, leech and tick. The bat makes a small cut with its sharp teeth and laps up the blood that seeps out. The invertebrates insert their mouth parts through the top layer of skin and into capilliaries, and sucks blood directly from them. As for so-called 'life-forces', in both cases and for all species of vampire bat, they need the blood simply as food - though without food they wouldn't live long!
