A good way to go about making this kind of decision is by looking at the candidate's stances on issues you care about.

By first deciding what issues are most important to you and what you think should be done about them, you can do a little research on the candidate's own stances and see who best lines up with those. Don't be afraid to do a little research on your own, even if it is minimal! Don't take the media and other people at face value.

By the way, the person you may choose to vote for might not have as MANY views line up with yours as their opponents, but you have to decide how important each issue is to you.

You need to register in advance of the election, maybe 6 weeks in advance. In most places you register at the county courthouse or at the registrar's place of business. You only have to register one time unless you move. Some places you can register when you get a drivers' license, the so-called motor-voter option.

On election day, you go to your assigned polling place. This place is determined by the precinct in which you live. Be sure to bring your voters' registration card or other picture ID with you. The people at the polls will tell you what to do.

If you know you will out of town on election day, you can apply for an absentee ballot at your county clerk's office. They will mail it to you and you mark it and send it back. You will probably have to mark it in the presence of a notary public who will certify your identify. There is a strict time-frame in which you must submit your ballot in order for it to count.

There can be lots of reasons. Sometimes it is just because of the party, in that the person always votes for that party's candidate, no matter who they are. Some people will look at all the candidates and their policies and choose which ones are best and vote for their candidate. Some may have a particular liking for a candidate and vote for them based on that. So there are many reasons that people choose the candidates they vote for.

Many workplaces are required to have someone who knows first aid. Besides that, having someone who does is good for covering the employer in case something happens and there is no first aid available.
