We remember Cleopatra mainly from the 'love' story of Mark Anthony. In which, Cleo fakes suicide, Mark hears and actually kills himself, Cleo hears and so she commits suicide. However I remember Cleopatra as the last Egyptian pharaoh (even though she was Greek or something) who married her brother before he died from trying to escape from Egypt and ended up drowning in the Nile. Also she could speak heaps of languages so was considered smart.

Script of the love story of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar?

The question of Caesar being in love with Cleopatra, or her with him. Isn't as clear cut in ancient times as today. In fact, love was not a driving force in those time for those two to come together. When we think of love, we think of it in today's terms, emotional and committed, two people spending a life together. But in Ancient times with nobles such as those two, coming together is more a political a matter of fact. So the better question is, Were Caesar and Cleopatra political partners?, but not in love in the modern scents of the word. Caesar was the first man in Rome with an army, Cleopatra had a brother standing between her and the thrown. And they both needed each other, Caesar needed Egypt in the hands of someone he trusted. Cleopatra needed someone to help her to the thrown and keep her there. So the fact that the two came together isn't a manner of love, but a simple business decision. A decision that proved to be the right one. Until his death Caesar controlled Egypt's gold and wheat through Cleopatra. In fact the partnership was so good that Cleopatra used it again after Caesar's death. Anybody remember Marc Antony..

Why do you remember Cleopatra today?

Cleopatra is remembered today because of myth and misconception. The play writers and novelists have hyped poor Cleopatra into something she never was. In most minds today she is remembered as a seductress. Every so often she is returned to public awareness when some novelist or pop historian writes about her, either trying to rehabilitate her into a brilliant politician or a stupid bungler.

Today, Cleopatra is famous as a sex queen or seductress. A very unfair assessment of her.

How does Cleopatra impact us today?

Cleopatra only impacts us today in a commercial sense. Books are written about her or her family, there's a Cleopatra cigarette, Cleopatra perfumes, I think a Cleopatra clothing or costume line. Anything feminine or sexy can have a Cleopatra name tag. All this has nothing to do with the real Cleopatra. The real Cleopatra was a capable woman who died over 2000 years ago. She has no impact on us today except in the historical sense.

Was Cleopatra kind?

Cleopatra could be kind when it suited her or when kindness would advance her in some way. In other words, there was always a self-serving interest in any acts of "kindness" performed by Cleopatra. However, please remember that Cleopatra was an absolute monarch, living in an era when there was no concept of charity or public welfare or "giving back" as we have today. She lived according to different standards than ours.

Why did Cleopatra become who she is?
