Wind energy converts kinetic energy that is present in the wind into more useful forms of energy such as mechanical energy or electricity.Windmills that were used to grind grain are an example of early uses of wind energy. Modern uses of wind energy include generation of electricity and pumping water.

The wind causes blades to turn, which, in turn, turn a machine called a turbine, which turns the kinetic energy of the turn into usable electricity.
The canvas sails are spun by the wind. There's a generator right behind it. The genarator creates electricity from the wind. then, the electricity is delivered to the areas surrounding it that find it necessary.

The wind blows onto the blades of the windmill and then the blades will move. The energy from the moving of blades can then be converted to electricity.

The blades turn, and this mechanical energy is transferred to a magneto (generator).

The blades of the wind turbine rotate by the action of wind on the blades. The blades are connected to the hub which is connected to a drive shaft and with the rotation of the blades the drive shaft rotates. The drive shaft is connected to a gear-box which converts the slow rotation speed of the drive shaft to a high rotational speed which can be used to drive a generator.

The speed of rotation of the blades are controlled by aerodynamic, mechanical and electronic control systems which in turn controls the speed of rotation of the generator. The constant speed of rotation of the generator yields electric power at a constant frequency.
Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electricity, wind mills for mechanical power, wind pumps for pumping water or drainage, or sails to propel ships.

If you have a wind turbine, the wind causes the turbine to rotate which uses gears to increase the rotation internally to power a generator converting the movement to electrical energy.

Why are windmills important?

Windmills are important because they provide electricity. The more the windmills move, the more electricity. If you go to Palm Springs in California, you will find hundreds and hundreds of windmills, because it is a windy place. Hope this helped.
