If you can find a wi fi signal you will have to have a password or a network key to use it...best bet for consistancy is go to AT&T, Verizon or some service provider that can hook you up to a satelite connection...it's not free but will work every time you start your computer. If you have a desktop computer and a laptop...upgrade to a wireless router and you can use your laptop in other areas of your home...otherwise go to some place like Starbucks, some Waffle Houses and connect to their wifi signal...best bet of all is your public library...become a member for free and the wifi is free...good luck.
Yes, it does. Facebook's messenger app is an extension of its internet site. Given that you cannot access Facebook without connecting to the internet by some means, the same goes for the Facebook Messenger app. That said, the app should not require a WiFi connection if you have the cellular data on your phone turned on. Data can be used instead of the WiFi connection to utilize the app, along with any other social platform apps such as Twitter and Instagram.

In general, yes. The WiFi password is a network security key. There are some special systems, however, which require a different network security key to access the internet, sometimes even if you have a wired connection.
One of the largest mistakes that many people who are new to using WiFi routers make is to not enable some type of security on the device. Without security, the WiFi signal that the router is transmitting can be picked up and used by anyone within range. This can not only reduce connection speeds, but it can also pose a security risk. The method of setting security is very similar for most WiFi routers, but ultimately involves using a web browser to access the router and set a password.
