The fuel filter is built into the fuel pump. Under the back seat, there is an access door allowing access to change the pump filter assembly.
It's hard to change the fuel filter in the KIA Sedona as it's in the fuel tank! There's an access panel under the center left passenger seat (remove the seat then remove the access panel) that when opened reveals the top of the fuel tank where you can then gain access to where the filter assembly is down inside the tank. The filter seems to be a dealer only item. This design is a real…
my 2003 diesel Sedona has the 'sedimenter' at the bottom of the fuel filter - it collects water and crap from the fuel. Needs emptying (by unscreing the sensor at the bottom of the filter and letting the water/bits run out) every 2 years of 20k miles. Or simply replace the filter, they're cheap off eBay.
Every 16,000 miles the fuel filter should be changed. I do it every other oil change. The 2006 has a change fuel filter reminder on the DIC, but I don't know how it calculates the change interval. Fuel filter change is critical on the duramax because of the extremely high pressures of the common rail injection system. Any water or debris can cause major injector damage.
