How do you Install a oil pump in a 1992 Ford Tempo?
2.3 L engine. You have to drop the oil pan to get at the pump. You can do this with the engine in the car.
1. Remove alternator drive belt. 2. Place alternator in upper most position. 3. Remove radiator overflow bottle. 4. Remove power steering pump drive belt. 5. Disconnect return line from pump. 6. Completely back off power steering pump pressure line nut. The pressure line will separate when the pump bracket is removed. 7. Remove power steering pump mounting bolts and pump. 8. Reverse procedure to install.
one reason could be that your fuel pump is burning out. If you normally run your car with less than 1/8 tank of gas in a tempo you are allowing the fuel pump to overheat and since it is electrical it just shuts down for a minute till it cools off. The gas in the tank is what keeps the pump from overheating.
