To Publish your WMM (Windows Movie Maker) project:
> With your project in the Time-line view of WMM
> Click on View and Tasks, to open the task pane
> Under Publish to ----
> Choose - This computer
> Name the movie and select a destination to save it in ---
(Choose/make a folder to save it in that you can access easily)
> Click Next
> Select option: Best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)
> Click Publish
When the video is published you should be able to find it in the folder you saved it in. Click on it and it should open up in the media player you use.
On the left side of the screen, it says "Publish movie," and under it will be a few options. To save the movie to your computer or a flash drive, click "Save to my computer." There are other options, such as "save to DVD" or CD. DO NOT USE VISTA'S MOVIE MAKER! On Vista, if you put anything other than video clips into the timeline, such as music, credits, or transitions, Vista will put a green bar at the bottom half of the screen after you save the movie. This DOES NOT happen on Windows XP. This only happens on Windows Vista.
To change a Windows Movie Maker file into a .wmv, all you need to do is Publish/Finish the project in the program.Click on the Windows Movie Maker How-To link posted in the Related links section below for instructions on how to Publish/Finish your project.
You cannot Save/Publish/Finish a Windows Movie Maker project as in FLV format.
You do not have to convert it at all. When you publish/finish the Windows Movie Maker project (in this case, an Audio project) the process automatically converts the file format from a MSWMM to a .wma.In other words, Publish/Finish the project.

To change the video from a project file (MSWMM) to a Standard viewing format such as .wmv in Windows Live Movie Maker, you simply have to Publish it.

By Publishing the movie. (Tasks>Publish)
Click on File, Save Project. Choose a location to save the video project, name it and there you go!
