You can do it the slow way, by smelting - relatively slow, but also cheap. You can actually get money from smelting. Or do it the fast way, and smith items, for example, mithril items. That costs you a lot of coins. An "intermediate" way is to smelt, with the Superheat Item spell. Faster than going to a forge; you lose some money, but not much.
Grab a hammer and some Bars (e.g. bronze, iron, steel etc.)
Find an anvil and 'use' the bar onto the anvil.
The more bars, better things you can make and the more you can make.

You have to smith it with iron.

I don't know what problem you are having, but you can smith platebodies for 5 bars of whatever. There is a scrollbar you know.

Yes you can, provided you have the materials required ( check the smithing skill guide to find out ). You can also Smith Pickaxes provided you have done a certain quest.
You cannot smith gold-trimmed at all. You can only obtain the trimmed armor from treasure trails which is a members-only thing.

You can 'borrow' the other person's skills. Let's say you want to smith a rune platebody but you don't have 99 smithing, someone with 99 smithing can assist you and you can smith it. But the person with 99 smithing gets the exp.
