After the fort quest where you fight all the hollowmen, you have to follow Walter to the bowerstone sewer. Whime you're on your way you will come to a fork in the road with your golden trail leading one way and a road going the other. Take the other road. You will soon come upon the house. When you do, go over to the pavillion and interact with each of the gohst statues four times each, that will make the house real.

The one in the catacombs is a waste of time if you go to the end of the catacombs you can turn around and get into where the gold door takes.
