There was no cure or fixing of the Black Death. The Black Death is a blanket term for a period of the 14th century in which a powerful plague swept across Europe. There are three main types of plague. Historians are not sure which of these caused the Black Death or if it was a mixture of them all. The plague ran its course through the population and most people susceptible to it died. This lead to a reduction of 30% to 60% of the population in most areas of Europe. The plague receded and reappeared many time over the centuries. Other appearances of plague did not reach the epidemic level that is attributed to the Black Death.

In Modern times, plague can be effectively treated with medications, specifically anti-biotics. While plague is very uncommon in modern countries it still exists.

The Black Death was an outbreak of the Bubonic Plague that appeared in Europe for a few years in the middle of the 14th century. In those days there was no effective treatment, and so the disease just ran its course. It was carried by rats, fleas, and some other animals including humans, and it killed all the animals it infected very quickly. It depended on a fairly great population density to be a full-blown plague, and when it killed enough to decrease the population, it petered out.The plague came back from time to time, and continued to do so in a big way until the late 19th century, still with no effective cure. Doctors discovered what was causing it in the late 19th century, but they had no idea how to cure it. In the 20th century, general antibiotics were discovered, such as tetracycline and penicillin. With drugs of these types, it can be treated effectively, if it is diagnosed quickly enough. It still is found today, but rather rarely, and the cases are pretty much isolated.

There was no real way to get rid of it, other than to let it run its course. When there were no more ready victims, it did just that.
