Wireless access point security is not generally handled with a "PIN." Perhaps you're trying to password-protect your wireless network or access point. In the future, you should specify what equipment you are trying to use (manufacturer, model).

There are two passwords that might be associated with your access point: one password to protect the settings on your access point so that someone unauthorized can't go and change your passwords on you, and the second password that allows other wireless users to connect to and use your wireless network.

In both cases, you should follow the directions in the user manual that came with the access point. If you don't have it any more, you can try this general procedure:

1. Connect your computer directly to the wireless access point with an ethernet cable. You should connect your computer to any ports on the access point marked as belonging to the Local Area Network, or LAN. This will not generally work in ports reserved for your Wide Area Network, or WAN.

2. Open a browser on your computer. In many commercial routers, this should give you access to a webpage with all your router settings.

3. From here on out, you're on your own. Each manufacturer has their own way of setting passwords for your wireless network and hopefully this web interface will be self-explanatory.

One final recommendation, if given an option between "WEP" and "WPA" security, you should always choose some form of WPA. WEP security is an old, buggy standard and is easily broken.
