where do I add freon to my air conditioning unit on a 1997 chevy truck?
There is no reservoir use a funnel and add to the dip stick tube.
Contains no Freon. Freon was banned beginning in 1996.
The high/low pressure lines have valves (1 each) like a tire. You plug a can into each side to recharge. the can will have the fitting and a guage.
It contains no Freon. It contains R134a refrigerant and you add it to the low pressure port which is the larger pipe.
I had an additive put in my Lincoln ls. I bought the adapter needed to add freon. It was located on driver side in front of tire.
You add refrigerant at the low pressure port but you do not add Freon. You add R134/134a. If you are having to add refrigerant then you have a leak that needs to be repaired first.

Connect guage & 134a freon to low pressure on the evaporator add 1lb at a time
The low pressure side is located on the compressor. To locate the port, jack up the driver side and crawl underneath to locate the compressor. Add the freon to the port on the compressor.
System does not contain Freon. R134a refrigerant is added through the low side service port on the accumulator.
On the passenger side, behind the battery, above the fender.
