How do you add smileys to your email?

It depends on your email program, actually. To add smilies to your messages, many programs (like Outlook) interpret text and change it into smilies... so, if you typed :) ... it would turn into a smiley in the program (you can turn off this feature in most cases as well). In other email programs (like Yahoo Mail for instance), there is actually a dropdown menu called "Add Emoticon" or something similar, where you can add the specific smiley icon that you want, without knowing the textual equivalent.

To create, hold down Alt key on keyboard (below Z and X)

and while it is held down, press number on right side numbers -

then left go of Alt key, and symbol will be displayed, like above

So ☺ is hold Alt then press 1 then release Alt
