The 1990 model of Miata came with a 1.6L DOHC engine and produced around 120 horsepower.
Unfortunately, a 1997 Toyota Supra engine and trans would not fit into a 1990 Mazda Miata. The Supra engine and transmission are unable to be mounted correctly within a Miata to make them fit.
1.6L Engine = 3.6 quarts
According to Kelley Blue Book, the estimated value of a 1990 Mazda Miata in excellent condition with approximately 150,000 miles on it is $2,400.

Follow the top radiator hose as it connects to the front of the engine. The thermostat is located in that housing.
At the rear of the engine, directly in the center, just above the transmission. If you look to the right of your firewall, you can find it by tracing the left heater hose down to the back of the engine. This answer is applicable for 1990-2005 Mazda Miatas.

There are two fans on a Miata. The main fan is triggered by the coolant temperature sensor, which is at the back of the Miata engine, dead center, just above the transmission. The second fan is triggered when AC is turned on.
