To adjust the idle on a 1985 s-10, assuming it is the standard 2.8 v-6 with the 2 barrel carb it's quite simple.
Take off the air filter cap, pull out the air filter, from there pull off the filter housing exposing the carb. on the passenger side of the carb you will find the throttle linkage system. on the middle/top of the linkage system, there is a screw on the linkage system that when tightened will increase the fuel intake, and when loosened will decrease the fuel intake, you can use a Phillips (#2) screwdriver to tighten it to adjust the idle, you shouldn't make it over 1200 rpm so you don't change your fuel/air ratio too much. then simply replace the air filter housing, air filter and lid and your good to go.
