The idle is not adjustable, it is computer controlled, which means the idle is not the problem. Look for a check engine light.
There is no way to adjust the idle as it is controled by the computor. You either have a idle control mod. bad or crankcase sensor. Talk to your parts store and they should be able to give you some advise also.

the 96 thunderbird was only available in an auto tranny.. the 4R70W, this is the same auto tranny that the 96 - 04 mustang v6 and gt have, so you should have no problems.. hope this helps!
