PROCEDURE:
Set timing under the following conditions:
Connect timing light and adjust to specification by loosening hold down bolt and rotating distributor. See: Specifications
Tighten hold down and recheck the timing. Stop the engine and connect SET TIMING connector. Clear ECM trouble code by disconnecting ECM power source. With engine at operating temperature, drive vehicle at part throttle with moderate acceleration and decelerate to idle condition. This will "teach" the ECM/VCM and return the engine to normal performance.
No, a 95 GMC Sonoma does not use a timing belt on it. The 95 GMC Sonoma uses a timing chain on it.
Where is the timing connector on a 1995 gmc sonoma
The distributor is located in a fixed, non-adjustable position. Ignition timing is preset and cannot be adjusted. Ignition timing is controlled by the powertrain control module.
Special procedures required Follow instruction on hood label or service manual
You have to use a scanner.
Need to set the timing on a 91 gmc sonoma truck or silver
You don't, the timing is contoled by the ECM with input from various sensors. You can moniter the timing with a diagnostic scanning device.
The timing for this engine is electronically controlled and not adjustable
what do you mean by change there is only one position for the timing mark and that t.d.c. top dead center
Never, as this truck does not have a timing belt but instead uses a cam chain that will normally last the life of the engine.
The GMC S-15 became the GMC Sonoma in 1991.
