If the vehicle has a carburetor, check the rubber hose from the fuel filter to the carb. If it's old, when running at higher speed the increased pressure will cause the hose to "pinch" closed thus restricting gas flow.

Depends on what year the car is. 76-78 models (1bbl) have an adjustment on the lower front of the carb. 79-80 models have a knockout plug on the lower-left base plate that can be adjusted and 81-87 are computer controlled via the electrical plug on the top of the unit. 81-87 also have the same knockout plate in the base plate as the 79-80's but it won't affect much.
The fuel pump is mounted on the side of the engine block. Follow the fuel line from the carburetor backward and you will find the fuel pump.
Need to know what make the 81 pickup is because some are adjustable and some are not.
