I've never adjusted a 1929 carb, but most work about the same way. If you don't have a book, try this:

Get a vacuum gage and hook it up to a full-time source. Find the idle mixture screw or screws. Turn it (each) until they seat, counting the number of turns required. Most carbs are pretty close when they are 1-1/2 turns out.

With the idle screws set at 1-1/2 turns, start the engine and let it warm up fully. The choke should be completely open and the engine idling at normal speed. Turn the idle screws in or out to achieve the highest vacuum reading.
